I bet it won't be long before the Israeli right start to try to emulate the American right's attempted coup of the court system. After all: how dare a judge, guided by Man's rule of law, deny the god-given right of ideological extremists to do what they claim their god has told them to do? As America's right wing says, god makes the rules, not man.

When settlers build in an illegal area is it normally a group effort spearheaded by a leader who doesn't agree with the drawn borders? Maybe just individual families who are looking for some land and trickle in 1 at a time?

The only real pictures I've seen look sort of like residential housing developments in CA.

Of course, the actual court's actual ruling, today, is that the Migron settlement be evacuated next Tuesday. The law, in its infinite majesty, continues to operate.

The proof of that will not be seen until the settlers are actually removed.

True. And how that goes, we'll see. But as of today, this is what the court says.

@Locker--Migron was originally built with Israeli government permission in 2001. In 2006, a lawsuit was brought on behalf of a Palestinian landowner. Some of the Migron residents have agreed to be evacuated, but want an extension to remain there until they can move to new homes that aren't ready yet. Then, several of the families in the settlement claimed to have bought the land they're living on from its owner (unclear to me if this is the same person as the gentleman represented in the suit). That was under investigation, but doesn't seem to have been proven to anyone's satisfaction. It's occasionally as simple as someone with a generator climbing a hill and refusing to move, but fairly rarely.

It won't be the first time that this has happened. But what I find interesting is how Israel's critics are silent on how just Israel law really is.
